When the Chevelle debuted in 1964, buyers were offered a variety of trim levels, the top-of-the-line being the Malibu. It was available on a variety of body styles, including 4-door sedans, 2-door sport coupes and convertibles. By 1967, the SS 396 was the only Chevelle available with a high-performance big block, and most Malibus came with a 283 small block. However, Chevrolet produced a handful of Malibus with the L30 engine option, allowing buyers to have a 327/275hp V8 option!
